The I/E Designer will create accurate, comprehensive 2D and 3D CAD models using electrical and instrumentation drafting expertise to support engineering projects. This role involves collaboration with engineering teams and adherence to industry standards, offering professional growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design teams to interpret specifications and create precise AutoCAD drawings and 3D models.
- Produce detailed electrical and instrumentation drawings, including junction boxes, control panels, and plan layouts.
- Develop, update, and maintain project documentation in compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and company policies.
- Create and sustain an organized CAD library focused on electrical and instrumentation components for reusability and efficiency.
- Ensure all drawings accurately convey design intent, are free of errors, and meet project deadlines.
- Establish foundational design files and coordinate with cross-departmental teams to validate design accuracy and clarity.
- Adhere to safety and environmental standards, especially when working at customer sites.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drafting standards, tools, and workflows.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years in drafting complex electrical and instrumentation designs
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, and AutoCAD 2020 or later
- Knowledge of drafting standards (layers, scales, dimensions, plotting)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Teams)
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and methodical approach
- Excellent communication skills and team collaboration
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and work independently
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or trade school certification in computer-aided drafting preferred.
- 5+ years in drafting complex electrical and instrumentation designs
Nice to Have
- Associate’s degree or trade school certification in computer-aided drafting
- Knowledge of NEC codes, electrical & instrument symbols, and standards
- Experience with CADWorx/ElectroWorx and related tools
