About This Role

Join Tesla's EPC project team as an IC&E Technician to expedite construction and utility systems supporting manufacturing tools. This role involves installing and maintaining building automation system instrumentation and controls in a 24-hour manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Install, and maintain panel integration including PLCs, VFDs, RIOs and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot process control systems (control valves, flow meters, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, actuators, leak switches)
  • Work with low voltage systems such as building automation, security, and data communication networks
  • Interpret and use electrical schematics, control diagrams and P&IDs for installation and troubleshooting HVAC equipment, Process skids, and MFG equipment
  • Preform Preliminary Commissioning activities including but not limited to loop checks, device configurations, OATs, Motor IDs, and network configuration
  • Support controls group in troubleshooting, upgrading and new installation of systems by consulting manuals, reading, and interpreting circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
  • Liaison with facilities operations and manufacturing teams to turnover completed and functional utility process including Safety Interlocks

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a journeyman Controls Technician specializing in low voltage and controls
  • Proficiency in reading P&IDs and technical specifications
  • Strong understanding in comprehending wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and P&ID drawings, motor controls, drives, and electronic components
  • Working knowledge of low voltage electrical systems from 24VDC to 480VAC
  • Working knowledge of networking and telecommunication wiring
  • Experience with mechanical process, building automation, data infrastructure, and security systems
  • Ability to perform Preliminary Commissioning activities including but not limited to loop checks, device configurations, OATs, Motor IDs, and network configuration
  • Strong knowledge of safety procedures, the ability to work at heights up to 80 ft

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a journeyman Controls Technician specializing in low voltage and controls

  • Technical degree or trade school preferred
