This Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) role involves participating in ongoing client evaluation, teaching new skills, and maintaining clinical records under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the ongoing evaluation of client’s functional status as delegated by the registered occupational therapist
- Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the home environment for hazards or barriers to more independent living as delegated by the registered occupational therapist
- Participate in teaching new skills or retraining clients in once familiar daily activities that have been lost due to illness or injury
- Maintain appropriate clinical records, clinical notes, and report to the registered occupational therapist any changes in the client’s condition
- Submit clinical documentation in accordance with policy
- Follow treatment program and goals for improved client function as established by the registered occupational therapist
- Maintain contact/communication with other personnel involved in the client’s care to promote coordinated, efficient care
- Attend and contribute to inservices, case conferences, and other meetings
- Identify client and family/caregiver needs for other home care services and assist with necessary referrals
Requirements
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
- Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Current and active Occupational Therapist Assistant license in the state of Minnesota
- Experience using technology including: Microsoft Office, Smart Phone, Calendaring, Clinical Software platforms (EMR), Wi-Fi, Printers, and Internet Browsing
- Ability to follow written instructions and type a minimum of 20 words a minute
Qualifications
- Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
