Home Health: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

About This Role

This Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) role involves participating in ongoing client evaluation, teaching new skills, and maintaining clinical records under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the ongoing evaluation of client’s functional status as delegated by the registered occupational therapist
• Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the home environment for hazards or barriers to more independent living as delegated by the registered occupational therapist
• Participate in teaching new skills or retraining clients in once familiar daily activities that have been lost due to illness or injury
• Maintain appropriate clinical records, clinical notes, and report to the registered occupational therapist any changes in the client’s condition
• Submit clinical documentation in accordance with policy
• Follow treatment program and goals for improved client function as established by the registered occupational therapist
• Maintain contact/communication with other personnel involved in the client’s care to promote coordinated, efficient care
• Attend and contribute to inservices, case conferences, and other meetings
• Identify client and family/caregiver needs for other home care services and assist with necessary referrals

Requirements

• A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
• Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
• Current and active Occupational Therapist Assistant license in the state of Minnesota
• Experience using technology including: Microsoft Office, Smart Phone, Calendaring, Clinical Software platforms (EMR), Wi-Fi, Printers, and Internet Browsing
• Ability to follow written instructions and type a minimum of 20 words a minute

Qualifications

• Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
• A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
