Histology Tech

About This Role

The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist is responsible for precisely cutting, staining, and preparing tissue samples for pathologist review. This role prioritizes testing procedures, ensures their accurate and timely completion, and maintains meticulous records in compliance with established policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Cut, stain, and prepare tissue samples for pathologist review
• Prioritize testing procedures efficiently
• Complete testing procedures accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate records of all tests performed
• Adhere to established policies, procedures, and regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• College/technical school courses or clinical training in Histology meeting ASCP (HT or HTL) requirements
• Meet Georgia Department of Human Resources Laboratory Licensure Division requirements for Histology Technician or Technologist
• Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by ASCP or other acceptable agency
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program AND/OR one year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus college/technical school courses and/or clinical training in Histology sufficient to satisfy ASCP (HT or HTL) requirements.
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program and/or one year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory. Three years of experience in a surgical pathology laboratory preferred.

Nice to Have

• Three years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory
