Grocery Supervisor

About This Role

The Grocery Supervisor plays a crucial role in the smooth operations of the Grocery Department, supporting daily activities and guiding junior team members to ensure optimal performance and adherence to departmental standards. This position reports to the Grocery Department Manager and involves maintaining inventory, ensuring product quality, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality control during receiving, manage inventory and product quality of all products (grocery, cooler & frozen goods), and implement FIFO concept.
• Maintain full product display and execute procedures for handling expired products to minimize loss.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers enthusiastically and courteously.
• Assist customers in product selection and offer recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
• Address customer complaints promptly, fostering positive relationships through attentive service and genuine engagement.
• Provide guidance and supervision to junior team members, offer feedback on staff performance, and assist in staff training and development within the department.
• Lead by example, demonstrating proficiency in all assigned duties and setting a standard for excellence.
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and upkeep of work tools to ensure a hygienic and organized environment.
• Familiarize oneself with the location of various grocery items and stay informed about departmental promotions to better assist customers.
• Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work in low temperature environment (0-4 °C) and freezing environment (-18 °C) occasionally.
• Basic computer skills in MS Office
• Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment, and able to interpret product information.
• Ability to communicate in English
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety.
• Demonstrated commitment, accountability, and reliability.
• Good organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Positive, proactive, and self-motivated work ethic.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience

Nice to Have

• Proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin).
