About This Role

This role involves performing semiskilled and skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance, and construction of state buildings and related structures. The General Trades Tech 3 will also install and maintain security, climate control, and other facilities systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the engineering, maintenance, renovation, and construction of facilities
  • Oversee contractors and contracted maintenance employees ensuring safety and efficiency
  • Review plans and conduct on-site inspections to ensure work is performed according to established guidelines
  • Work with available resources and oversee projects, purchases, preventative maintenance, and work orders
  • Maintain an efficient parts and supply inventory
  • Manage subordinate supervisors and staff
  • Perform administrative duties and statistical, financial, or operational data analysis and reporting
  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment
  • Organize building and coordinate implemented safety drills
  • Address facility breakdowns that can occur after work hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Maintain a 24-hour emergency on-call availability

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Three years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment; OR two years of experience at the lower level General Trades Tech 2 or equivalent.
