General Service Technician

About This Role

The General Service Technician performs vehicle services and installations, including oil changes, tire services, and fluid checks. This role ensures timely and accurate customer service while maintaining store appearance and promoting sales.

Responsibilities

• Drain oil and change oil filter
• Lubricate vehicles
• Install, rotate, and balance tires and properly torque wheels
• Check and fill various fluids; check and replace various filters and lights
• Unload tires and other merchandise from transport trucks and warehouse deliveries
• Inspect disposed tires for adjustment and properly store or dispose of them
• Clean facilities, tools, and equipment and stock shelves
• Greet and thank customers courteously, providing fast and friendly service
• Promote sales by explaining benefits of service and products
• Perform all necessary sales duties per company policy and procedure
• Maintain internal and external store appearance to comply with Big O Tires standards
• Safely operate customer vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions, moving vehicles as needed
• Timely complete daily Today’s Class Technician and other required training
• Keep supervisor informed of any maintenance problems and/or issues
• Assist in the proper training of new employees as needed

Requirements

• 17 years of age or older (with parental consent)
• Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
• Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
• Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles
• Ability to exchange accurate information with customers
• Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials
• Ability to consistently work in outdoor weather conditions
• Ability and willingness to comply with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) regulations
• Ability to move and position self to move and retrieve product and supplies from shelves, under counters, or stacks of inventory weighing up to 75 pounds
• Availability to work holidays, weekends, and after regular business hours as needed
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language
• Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment screenings
• Legal authorization to work in the United States of America
