General Merchandise Lead

About This Role

This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, managing inventory, and supporting team members within a general merchandise department. The Lead acts as a key contact for associates and management, focusing on department performance and upholding company standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the general merchandise team to achieve sales and service goals
• Ensure shelves are stocked, organized, and clean
• Train new team members and provide ongoing coaching
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving products
• Resolve customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally
• Support department manager with scheduling, task assignments and reporting
• Uphold safety, sanitation, and company policies at all times
• Assist with merchandising, promotional displays, and seasonal resets
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals
• Lead team members to ensure ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display are completed

Requirements

• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs
• Passion for customer service

• Previous retail or grocery experience preferred
