About This Role

This role involves maintaining, servicing, and performing minor repairs on buildings and equipment at Augusta University. The position includes a variety of semiskilled duties across plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting, while also assisting other maintenance workers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic general maintenance and repairs to campus buildings and other facilities throughout the university under limited supervision
  • Conduct inspections and routine maintenance, troubleshoot and repair various building environmental systems including heating, cooling, and ventilation systems
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building plumbing systems, including replacing fixtures, repairing leaks, and clearing drains
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building electrical and lighting systems, including lighting elements, ballasts, devices, and circuit breakers
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks such as door, window, casework, and signage repair and replacement
  • Maintain indoor and outdoor surfaces by painting, pressure washing, and material repair and replacement
  • Install, repair, and replace flooring and carpet
  • May train, assist, or assign tasks to lower-level general maintenance positions

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 years of experience in general maintenance
  • Valid driver's license
  • Moderate level of knowledge in general building maintenance and construction skills

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or Associates from an accredited college or university
  • 3 years of experience with High School diploma/GED, or equivalent experience with Associate's degree

Nice to Have

  • Electrical Contractor (non-restricted) license from the State of Georgia
  • Six or more years of applicable electrical maintenance and/or construction experience
  • Technical school diploma in electrical or electronic fields
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical instructions
