About This Role

This Forklift Operator position is responsible for safely executing daily tasks to fulfill customer requirements, including labeling, cross-docking, drop-shipping, and timely stock orders. The role involves pulling and verifying orders, protecting products for shipment, and loading them into trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Safely complete daily activities to meet customer specific requirements related to labeling, cross-docking, drop-shipping, and stock orders
  • Pull orders, verify accuracy, and use Best Practices to protect product for shipment
  • Load orders into trucks/containers or small package lines
  • Actively pursue continuous improvement using Lean Tactics in a team environment
  • Participate in scanned physical inventories as needed
  • Inspect and check forklift for safe and proper operation, completing forklift inspection forms
  • Determine from sales orders which product to pull and use Best Practices to match product with sales orders
  • Operate UPS, FedEx, and shipping computers to generate packaging lists and labels, and transmit EDI
  • Apply labels, packing list, and special instructions to packages, including international and CSR documents
  • Secure product to skid according to Customer Specific Requirements and/or Best Practices
  • Lift packages weighing up to 150 pounds onto small package conveyor and/or skids
  • Assist in maintaining department in accordance with good housekeeping practices and visual management
  • Observe all ISO safety and environmental procedures

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math
  • Basic computer skills
  • High degree of attention for injury prevention
  • Motivated, organized, and ability to coordinate multi and changing priorities with close attention to detail
  • Ability to move or lift packages weighing up to 75-150 pounds
  • Satisfactorily pass the in-company forklift driver training program
  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk, for an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms; bend, stoop, and crouch
  • Ability to use hands and fingers effectively to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to wear safety glasses while in the plant and any other necessary PPE

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
