The Float Pharmacist ensures complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment. This role involves preparing, dispensing, and verifying medications while also assessing and monitoring patient drug therapy.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment
- Prepare, dispense and verify medications ordered for an assigned group of patients
- Assess, evaluate and monitor patient drug therapy
- Provide drug information, patient education, and other clinical pharmacy services
- Evaluate all physician orders based on a clinical assessment of the patient
- Assure the safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications
- Manage drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge, licensures and certifications through continuing education
- Manage the operations of the pharmacy in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population
Requirements
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Skills necessary to compound pharmaceuticals and operate technical equipment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
- None required
