This Project Scientist role involves conducting research on the conservation and management of California's living marine resources, including salmon ecology, fisheries assessment, and molecular ecology. The role contributes high-level skills to research projects, designs and implements field/laboratory studies, manages large datasets, and contributes to publications.
Responsibilities
- Support research on the conservation and management of California’s living marine resources
- Design and implement field or laboratory based studies
- Manage and analyze large and complex datasets
- Contribute to presentations, agency reports, and peer-reviewed publications
- Supervise research personnel and/or serve as grant/contract Principal Investigators (for senior FCP project scientists)
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.A./M.S. degree plus four years research experience in relevant scientific fields
- Experience contributing to field or laboratory studies in fisheries biology, marine science, oceanography, climate variability, natural resources management, or related field
Qualifications
- Ph.D.; or a M.A./M.S. degree, plus four years’ research experience in fisheries sciences and management, marine biology and biological oceanography, ocean/marine sciences, oceanography, ecology, evolutionary biology, environmental science, biology, or a related field
- Experience contributing to field or laboratory studies in the areas of fisheries biology, marine science, oceanography, climate variability, natural resources management, or related field (may have been obtained while completing your degree).
