About This Role

This role manages and coordinates the daily operations of the fire safety program and related facilities for Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. It involves ensuring compliance with state certifications, developing curriculum, and maintaining equipment to support the institution's educational and safety goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate day to day operations of the fire safety program, fire safety complex, mobile training units and remote facilities
  • Consult with industry experts to keep current on new techniques, trending methods, skills, technology, and state required certifications
  • Manage and instruct state certification courses and processes, incorporating industry standards in curriculum
  • Serve as primary logistics contact for all who utilize the fire training grounds
  • Create and manage the distribution, application and adherence of policy and procedure by faculty and CTED contract instructors
  • Develop and maintain relationships with state certifying agencies, industry, and community partners
  • Research and evaluate emerging best practices and new technology for Fire Science training
  • Oversee the state certification process for all fire science students
  • Manage the logistics of all equipment requested for training and education within the NWTC District
  • Manage maintenance and inspection of all fire apparatus and equipment

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Fire Science or related field
  • 5+ years of professional or volunteer fire service experience
  • Class A CDL, Combination Vehicle endorsement
  • Wisconsin Fire Officer Level 1 Certification
  • Wisconsin Firefighter Level 2 Certification
  • Wisconsin Driver-Operator Pumper Certification
  • Wisconsin Driver-Operator Aerial Certification
  • Hazardous Materials Operations Certification
  • Wisconsin Certified Officer I
  • Emergency Services Instructor 2 certification (Fire Instructor 2)
  • Valid driver's license and insurable

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Fire Science or related field
  • Five years of related experience as a professional or volunteer in fire service
