About This Role

This role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment as part of a rapid response team, operating on a 14/14 rotation schedule. The position requires independent work, customer relations management, and a focus on quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service and repair heavy equipment systems including mechanical and computer electronic controls, transmissions, and pneumatic systems
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment and perform necessary repairs
  • Repair and service track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, hydraulic systems, and various other heavy-duty components
  • Service, diagnose, repair and maintain speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy-duty multi-axle suspensions
  • Tune diesel engines, service valves, fuel filters, turbo chargers, and adjust injector heights, fuel racks, and governors
  • Overhaul and replace engines, and rebuild components as needed
  • Complete and submit all required documentation for performed work without supervision
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area
  • Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques
  • Perform all tasks with safety as the top priority

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience in the construction and mining machinery industry
  • Working knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in heavy machinery repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of safety issues in equipment repair
  • Skills in using a variety of hand tools, mechanized tools, jacks, hoists, diagnostic testing, tuning equipment, and welding equipment
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend and twist several times a day
  • Ability to read manuals and schematics, rebuild engines and major driveline components
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight
  • Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to effectively operate test equipment and good troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, accredited trade school graduate preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in the construction and mining machinery industry
