Field Service Technician

About This Role

The Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment at customer sites for Carter Machinery, the authorized Caterpillar dealer.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose heavy equipment issues at customer sites
• Troubleshoot heavy equipment problems at customer sites
• Repair heavy equipment at customer sites
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Interact professionally with customers and personnel
• Prioritize workload and provide excellent customer service
• Learn and apply new technical knowledge
• Promote a positive customer experience

Requirements

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to interact professionally with customers and personnel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Self-directed and well-organized with ability to prioritize workload
• Ability to learn and apply new knowledge
• Proficient use of technical software, databases and manuals
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent driving record
• Ability to obtain a CDL and become DOT certified
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience performing mechanical service and repairs to Caterpillar and related competitive equipment, with a minimum of three years for the $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience performing mechanical service and repairs to Caterpillar and related competitive equipment
• Minimum of three years relevant heavy equipment field experience
