About This Role

Lead the launch and operations of the new Gary YMCA, focusing on strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, fostering innovation, and overseeing various aspects including membership, marketing, programs, and financial development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations and lead innovations throughout their portfolio and through leadership of specialty initiatives
  • Oversee total operation of branch(es), including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies
  • Create a superior member experience and emphasize character development
  • Serve as an organization champion around advancing equity while valuing diversity and inclusion
  • Set operational and performance goals for assigned association services
  • Provide leadership towards safe and effective operations of assigned branch(es)
  • Lead portfolio program efforts by providing direction, leadership, support, and efficiencies for team members through fiscal management, strategic planning, administrative standardization, crisis intervention, quality standards, and risk management
  • Champion program development, staffing and set standards that achieve programmatic outcomes
  • Ensure the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, collaborations, partnerships, and grant/funding opportunities
  • Develop, manage, and maintain an annual budget of income and expense for portfolio

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services, or equivalent
  • Appropriate knowledge, experience and self-guided nature capable of providing leadership in all aspects of operations
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and team members
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • CPR/AED/First Aid and New Employee Orientation required with 30 days of hire

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services, or equivalent
  • Five or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred, along with appropriate knowledge, experience, and self-guided nature capable of providing leadership in all aspects of operations.

Nice to Have

  • Five or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit
  • YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification
