E/PC Technician

About This Role

Assist the Emergency Department team by providing quality patient care under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. Prepare patients for exams, perform medical tasks, and ensure patient satisfaction by maintaining communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of the treatment area, including checking and maintaining stock and supplies
• Prepare patients for exam by undressing, positioning for comfort, and adhering monitoring devices
• Perform various tasks including vital signs, I&Os, EKGs, bladder scans, blood glucose, phlebotomy, and sizing/use of Durable Medical Equipment
• Work collaboratively with RNs and providers in various care settings within the ED as an integral team member in the pod or area such as triage
• Participate as an active member with specific roles within the ED team for complex patient care (trauma, cardiac arrest etc.)
• Perform hourly rounding and maintain regular communications with patients and their family members
• Maintain ongoing communications with team members regarding patient status to proactively manage care and issues
• Document task completion and patient care interactions
• Transport patients to testing and in-patient units
• Complete mandatory continuing education and attend staff meetings

Requirements

• Current EMT, or Medical Assistant certification, or Nursing student, or 1 year prior ED experience
• CPR certification

Qualifications

• 1 year prior ED experience or one year minimum experience in a related role

Nice to Have

• Phlebotomy training
• EKG training
• Direct Patient Care Skills
