The Engineering Technician III will provide technical systems support services for designated equipment, performing troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, overhaul, assembly, testing, and installation tasks at the request of FAALC Product Divisions or Groups. This role ensures electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment meets serviceability, reliability, and availability requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, teardown, repair, refurbishment, overhaul, assembly, testing, and installation services for designated equipment.
- Assemble and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, and components, including power and signal cables, circuit boards, and test fixtures.
- Conduct equipment and component performance analyses to determine operating characteristics, aid in fault isolation, and verify functions under variable conditions.
- Install electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, components, test fixtures, modifications, and engineering prototypes.
- Perform maintenance on NAVAID antenna and components, rotary joints, drive motors, and circuit boards.
- Produce and repair electronic cables and wire harnesses.
- Install and maintain NAS Radomes and perform structural inspection and maintenance of towers at heights up to 750 feet.
- Independently perform preventive and corrective maintenance on FAA and interagency systems.
- Travel up to 70% for installations and emergency call-outs.
- Assist junior technicians with technical tasks and provide on-the-job training.
Requirements
- NACI Clearance - ability to obtain Public Trust
- Successful completion of a physical fitness evaluation with weight restrictions (minimum 125lbs, maximum 290lbs)
- Two forms of unexpired government-issued identification
Qualifications
- Associate degree in electrical or engineering technology and completion of formal technical training courses
- Practical experience in an engineering technician support position, including assisting in developing, reviewing, and updating engineering documentation and processes, and in troubleshooting, repairing, assembling, testing, and installing electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
Nice to Have
- Rope repelling / on rope work at heights
- Specialized knowledge of FAA systems, equipment, procedures, and operations
- Experience with operation of boom man lifts and motorized forklifts
- Ability to work at heights
- Completion of trip reports
- Preventative maintenance and replacement of tower, radome and cab glass components
