Engineering Technician I

About This Role

Perform observations and documentation of geotechnical exploration activities, including soil/rock borings, and analyze collected samples. The role involves clear documentation of findings, communication with project managers and clients, and maintaining equipment while adhering to strict safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform observations and documentation of geotechnical exploration activities (e.g. soil/rock borings or test pits)
• Communicate with project manager, client representatives, and contractor representatives regarding project details
• Transport material samples to the laboratory for further analysis
• Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports
• Collect and analyze samples of soil, rock, and other earth materials
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results
• Maintain assigned equipment, vehicles, and work areas
• Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects
• Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work
• Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation, including logging of geotechnical sampling of soil and rock

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 6 months experience preferred, but not required

Nice to Have

• 6 months experience
• Previous experience in outdoor/field working/driving conditions
• Previous experience in Geotechnical drilling/sampling
• Proficiency with MS Office computer programs
• Good oral and written communication skills
