This position is responsible for performing challenging transmission engineering work within PPL’s Transmission Engineering Group. The role involves transmission line design using engineering software, developing construction packages, project oversight, and interfacing with multiple functional groups to successfully complete transmission line projects and ensure reliable electric service.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a safe environment for the PPL Transmission system, ensuring safety for co-workers, contractors, work crews, and the public.
- Perform engineering work on PPL’s overhead and underground transmission lines, supporting Engineering Project Scope as directed by Supervision.
- Design and conduct analyses of various transmission line structures, conductors, and cables, including wire sags, clearances, and blowout.
- Provide technical expertise on the design of Overhead and Underground transmission lines, including structural components and equipment.
- Offer engineering expertise and technical support during the planning and construction phases of complex overhead and underground transmission line design projects.
- Oversee contract engineers and coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines, work groups, and external stakeholders.
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using well-defined engineering procedures.
- Take initiative to continually expand and improve technical and business skills.
Requirements
- ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology
Qualifications
- ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology
- Entry level to 10+ years of engineering experience depending on the specific Engineer level (I, II, III, Principal)
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer License or Engineer in Training Certificate.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and engineering analysis tools such as PLS-CADD
- At least one year experience in distribution/transmission line design
