As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will thrive on helping people and their pets, especially in critical moments. This role involves handling a variety of emergency cases, performing surgeries, and providing continuous learning and mentorship within a supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Answer medical questions over the phone
- See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes system
- Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and conduct physical exam
- Perform investigatory measures including ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies
- Diagnose pet conditions and create diagnostic and therapeutic plans
- Communicate diagnosis and treatment options to customers
- Prepare and present estimates to customers
- Create and review accurate medical records
- Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
- Perform endoscopic procedures
- Educate customers on after care and preventative measures
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Passion for emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (soft tissue) and endoscopy
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, work on the floor
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
