Elementary Teacher

About This Role

This role involves providing direct instruction to elementary students, ensuring high academic achievement and closing the achievement gap across all subgroups. The teacher will support students' academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and mental health needs while adhering to the district's curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity
• Guide the learning process towards curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects
• Employ instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives
• Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports
• Consult with colleagues, students, and parents regularly
• Assist administration in implementing policies and maintain classroom order
• Supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff/school committees
• Participate in staff development programs

Requirements

• Valid Massachusetts Teaching license in Early Childhood (Pre-k-2) or Elementary (1-6)
• SEI Endorsement
• Bachelor’s Degree in the area of major study
