Electrical Systems Operator

About This Role

Operate and maintain electrical systems for a government contractor, including breakers, substations, and power distribution units. This role monitors system performance, troubleshoots issues, and ensures safe and efficient operation of critical electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control electrical systems using SCADA software to ensure safety, efficiency, and effectiveness
• Monitor controlled systems for performance and identify potential problems
• Evaluate daily operations of electrical distribution components, generators, UPSs, and other monitored electrical systems
• Coordinate plant changes with building management, maintenance, and operations personnel
• Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts to adjust controls for safe and efficient system operation
• Initiate immediate responses to alarms and emergency conditions to maintain uninterrupted system service
• Coordinate system outages with Government personnel, critical use customers, and maintenance personnel
• Provide daily plant status reports on the condition of electrical systems
• Conduct routine system tours to inspect and monitor maintenance activities, corrective actions, and outages
• Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting and assist in all aspects of system repairs to ensure full functionality

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read, write, and perform related math
• Seven (7) years of experience performing work on electrical systems (motors, panel boards, switchgear, etc.)
• Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and assist with the repair of electrical distribution equipment
• Ability to operate/troubleshoot electrical systems using an automated control system
• Ability to dispatch personnel, assist with, and oversee emergency responses to electrical system corrective actions
• Current Top Secret Security clearance with Polygraph
• Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract
• U.S. Citizenship

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Seven (7) years of experience performing work on electrical systems to include motors, panel boards, switchgear, motor control centers, uninterruptable power supplies, transformers, substations, generator, panel boards and related automated control equipment.
