This role involves assisting hospital patients and performing specialized technical skills and treatments under medical supervision. The Paramedic focuses on direct patient care within their licensed scope.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, within the scope of license, with physician supervision
- Perform medical treatment of wounds at basic/intermediate/advanced levels
- Administer medications by pre-established protocol, including vasoactive medications
- Draw bloodwork, place splints/boots, insert Foleys, and use glucometers/I-STAT
- Administer IV fluids and perform vital signs (rectal temps/immunocompromised)
- Administer preset protocols and standing orders as ordered by a physician
- Perform clinical job duties as defined in orientation packet and monitored annually
- Support physicians, nursing, and hospital administration by adhering to objectives and policies
- Document patient related tasks accurately
- Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and communication style
Requirements
- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Self-directed and able to work independently
- Effective planning, organizing, and time management skills
- Ability to identify medical emergencies and assist with management
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, Graduation from an approved Paramedic Program
- None required, but Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or Hospital Experience preferred.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
(Required)
Certified with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as a Paramedic

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire
(Required)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire
(Required)
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire
(Required)
