About This Role

Process new Durable Medical Equipment (DME) orders, determine medical necessity, and ensure accurate information delivery to facilitate billing and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process referrals from hospitals, provider offices, and rehabs, maintaining frequent communication regarding setup deliveries
  • Review medical records for appropriate documentation of diagnosis, notes, and ordered equipment
  • Verify insurance benefits, copays, and same/similar coverage, then review all out-of-pocket expenses with customers
  • Respond to customer inquiries or equipment orders by researching, understanding, and documenting accounts
  • Create appropriate delivery and billing documentation as necessary per insurance guidelines
  • Work daily reports such as held claims and open orders to ensure timely billing and follow-up on outstanding documentation
  • Coordinate equipment delivery with DME Technicians and DME Supervisor
  • Assist in over-the-counter sales and/or rentals, identifying equipment/supplies and instructing customers on safe use and maintenance
  • Participate in store inventory and ensure retail area is stocked with equipment when assigned
  • Balance point of sale terminal cash drawers daily when assigned to retail workspace

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 months of Customer Service experience
  • Successful completion of Level II background screening
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant systems

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 months of Customer Service experience, one year experience in healthcare environment preferred

Nice to Have

  • One year experience in healthcare environment
  • Working knowledge of medical insurance and medical terminology
