Cytologist

About This Role

Analyze cytological specimens to provide quality results, ensuring no harm to patients and maintaining efficient use of resources within the pathology department.

Responsibilities

• Comply with department policies, processes, and procedures to provide accurate results, quality products, and services with minimal errors.
• Assure valid results, preventing patient or sample identification errors in laboratory procedures.
• Understand and apply sample quality control and equipment quality control per department policy.
• Comply with "I CARE" values.
• Manage daily workload in a productive manner.

Requirements

• Licensure as required by the State of Florida and CLIA guidelines
• Appropriate certification by the ASCP or similar accrediting agencies
• Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures
• Ability to respond to a “call in” within 30-45 minutes
