About This Role

Manage internal investigations, EEO-DEI compliance, and diversity strategies for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, ensuring an inclusive and equitable work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all internal investigations alleging discrimination, harassment, or retaliation in violation of the EEO Policy, including intake, tracking, and resolution.
  • Recommend corrective actions and systemic changes based on investigation findings, and manage related training and remedial measures.
  • Direct and manage the Agency’s EEO-DEI compliance requirements and best practice initiatives/strategies.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training regarding workforce adherence to EEO-DEI law, related mandates, and best practice standards.
  • Manage the EEOD Office’s response to requests for EEO records and related audits.
  • Supervise and train a team of investigators and related staff.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to executive leadership regarding investigation trends, outcomes, areas of risk, and risk mitigation recommendations.
  • Collaborate with HR, Legal, and other departments to ensure compliance-driven, comprehensive, and practical resolutions/outcomes.
  • Stay current on changes in laws, regulations, and best practices in EEO compliance, workplace complaint investigations.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • 4 years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar
  • 18 months in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work
