This role involves leading and overseeing the financial operations for the Augusta University Foundations, ensuring robust financial controls and reporting procedures. The Director will manage accounting systems, budgets, cash flow, and ensure compliance with nonprofit audit best practices and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Finance & Accounting staff to meet departmental goals and objectives.
- Maintain all accounting systems, account and fund balances, records, and functions.
- Ensure appropriate internal controls and financial procedures are in place.
- Prepare and communicate monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the AVP/CFO for Foundations and Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement.
- Coordinate the development and monitoring of strategies, plans, and foundation budgets.
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds.
- Manage cash, investment, and other asset balances.
- Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
- Develop financial business plans and forecasts using predictive models and activity-based financial analyses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- Minimum of five years' work experience in accounting in a higher education or public employer setting
- Supervisor experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of five years' work experience in accounting in a higher education or public employer setting, with supervisor experience.
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree
- CPA License
- Ten years of financial management and accounting experience in a non-profit organization and philanthropic setting
- Experience working in or with a non-profit foundation affiliated with a public college or university
- Demonstrated career progression with proven ability to select, train, supervise, and motivate a professional team
- Experience working with Blackbaud Financial Edge and/or Blackbaud Raiser's Edge
