This role involves providing hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them with daily living, health, and community engagement to help them achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Help with meal preparation, household chores, and creating a safe home environment
- Administer medications as directed and support medical appointments
- Assist with walking, transfers, and mobility aids to ensure safe navigation
- Implement strategies to support behaviors respectfully
- Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities to foster belonging
- Assist with communication tools and techniques to help individuals express themselves
- Advocate for individual needs, rights, and access to services
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, therapists, and team members for holistic care
- Maintain accurate and timely records in electronic systems
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency diploma
- Valid New York State Driver’s License with 2 years of driving experience
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency diploma
- 2 years of driving experience; experience working with adults with behavioral health or other disabilities preferred
