Direct Support Professional

About This Role

Provide direct support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) within the Georgia DBHDD system, focusing on daily living activities, behavior support, and community integration while ensuring adherence to DBHDD standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
• Support individuals in achieving their personal goals as outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP)
• Monitor and document behavioral, medical, and emotional changes accurately and promptly
• Assist with medication administration (if certified) and support medical appointments
• Ensure safety and promote independence in residential, day, or community-based settings
• Uphold all DBHDD guidelines and state regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Minimum 1-2 years experience working with individuals with IDD, preferably in a DBHDD-compliant setting
• Knowledge of DBHDD protocols, person-centered planning, and behavioral support
• Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
• Must pass background checks
• Must pass drug screening

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years experience working with individuals with IDD, preferably in a DBHDD-compliant setting
