Provide direct support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a day program and/or home setting, assisting with daily activities, emotional support, and community outings.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with daily activities and emotional support
- Supervise community outings
- Support treatment plans in partnership with clinical staff
- Act as models for appropriate behavior
- Provide transportation to and from facilities and community activities
- Train participants in skills and conduct daily activities, training, and documentation for IDD day programs
- Eat lunch on site with participants and take breaks on site
- Remain on site for entire workday, except as authorized by supervisor
- Demonstrate the importance of community involvement, social interactions, and maintaining relationships
- Assist with job exploration, application, training individuals on job-specific duties, and enhancing natural supports in the work environment
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain MS CDL Class C Driver's License within 60 days of hire
- Valid Mississippi Driver's License with satisfactory driving record (no moving violations within 3 years)
- Ability to pass CPR, MANDT, and other required testing
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Nice to Have
- Experience working with the IDD population
- Experience assisting others with ADLs
