About This Role

This role involves providing direct support to adults with intellectual disabilities, focusing on promoting their growth, independence, and overall well-being within a residential setting and the community. The Direct Support Professional will implement individualized plans, assist with daily living skills, and ensure a safe and personalized home environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a personal support in the residence of a person served, ensuring active involvement in their programs and activities
  • Provide supervision and training to adults with intellectual disabilities to promote their highest potential, following individual plans and goals
  • Personalize and individualize the house to each person's preferences and personality
  • Teach and instruct people served to develop independent living skills, such as mobility, budgeting, personal hygiene, and household tasks
  • Utilize approved behavior plans and intervention strategies to help achieve goals and objectives
  • Act as a positive role model for persons served and Agency staff
  • Administer correct and timely medication consistent with Physician Medical Order Form (PMOF) and Medication Administration Record (MAR)
  • Monitor and assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the persons served's home
  • Complete appropriate records and reports, including monthly reports, incident reports, and activity logs
  • Transport persons served to appointments, activities, and community outings

Requirements

  • Commitment to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push adequate weight (more than 50 pounds)

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Commitment to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Ability to work as part of a team.
