This role involves providing direct support and supervision to individuals with intellectual and behavioral challenges, ensuring their safety, engagement, and well-being. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, implementing care plans, and fostering community integration.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and supervision to individuals to ensure safety, engagement, and well-being
- Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including hygiene, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation
- Implement and follow individualized care plans, supporting each person’s goals and skill development
- Administer medications accurately and in compliance with agency policies and regulations
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment, adhering to health and safety protocols
- Utilize approved behavior intervention techniques to assist individuals in emotional and behavioral regulation
- Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities, progress, incidents, and other required reports
- Foster community integration by facilitating participation in activities, events, and social interactions
- Maintain open communication with supervisors, team members, and external service providers
- Attend required training, staff meetings, and professional development sessions
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain and maintain CMT, CPR/First Aid, and Mandt certifications
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certifications in human services preferred
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required; a strong commitment to person-centered support is essential
