About This Role

A Direct Support Professional provides essential assistance, guidance, and teaching in various life areas to supported individuals, helping them achieve their desired quality of life. This role involves both direct care and administrative tasks to ensure the well-being and integration of individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support, interaction, and supervision for supported persons, including all daily needs (meals, personal care, transportation, leisure activities, community integration, medical needs, and medication administration)
  • Complete all state and agency required documentation in accordance with stated guidelines and deadlines
  • Maintain positive, professional working relationships
  • Perform general household tasks and maintain the living environment in accordance with COMAR and Health Dept. standards
  • Support individuals in accordance with the Person-Centered Plan, Behavior Support Plan (if applicable), and Nursing Care Plan
  • Administer and document medications pursuant to State and Agency requirements, utilizing an eMAR and following the DDA nursing delegation model
  • Provide transportation via company vehicles to supported persons
  • Complete all required and assigned trainings including CPR/First Aid, Mandt Systems, and medication technician certification
  • Attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings
  • Check and respond to emails daily to maintain proper communication
  • Utilize agency electronic systems for communication, time and attendance, progress notes, incident report filing
  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect, providing opportunities for decision-making and daily planning

Requirements

  • Current Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more
  • Ability to demonstrate Mandt Systems training physical interventions and techniques

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)

Nice to Have

  • DDA core competencies
  • Mandt Systems Training
  • CPR / First Aid
  • MTTP
  • Experience working with people with IDD/DD
