Join as a Diesel Service Technician to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy Caterpillar equipment, ensuring proper function for construction, agriculture, and industry needs. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience and professional growth in a skilled trade.
Responsibilities
- Tear down, reassemble, and install diesel-powered equipment with precision
- Troubleshoot and identify root causes of equipment issues to perform efficient repairs
- Maintain and repair equipment and components while following safety and quality standards
- Test and adjust machine systems using diagnostic tools
- Evaluate parts for reusability based on OEM guidelines and coordinate replacement parts orders
- Complete clear, detailed service reports and communicate with supervisors
- Ensure every machine is tested, inspected, and ready for delivery
- Maintain a clean workspace, tools, and professional appearance
- Stay current with new tools, technologies, and industry innovations
- Perform related duties as assigned to support customers and the team
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Solid understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and mechanical diagnostics
- Proficient with mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a drive for accuracy
- Comfortable reading schematics, manuals, and technical documents
- Physically capable of lifting, standing, and working in a demanding shop environment for 8–10 hour shifts
- Competent with computer systems (e.g., SIS and DBS)
- Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends when needed
- A set of basic mechanic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, drives)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required. Technical training in diesel engines, heavy equipment, or military mechanical experience preferred.
- Entry-level opportunity for mechanically minded individuals, previous experience in diesel, automotive, or truck engine repair environments a plus.
