Parts Counter Sales/Warehouse

About This Role

This role involves day-to-day execution of parts counter sales and warehouse operations, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring efficient inventory management for heavy equipment parts.

Responsibilities

• Participate in parts order management processes including receiving, shelving, picking, and shipping parts and components
• Engage in parts counter sales and customer service, including quoting, determining availability, processing orders/returns, and resolving issues
• Inspect, determine reusability, and process customer's core component returns for credit and shipment
• Record and track parts-related lost customer sales opportunities to improve inventory management
• Fabricate customized hydraulic hoses to specification using bulk materials
• Operate ladder and material handling equipment (e.g., forklift and pallet jack) to pull and transfer parts
• Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment
• Keep up to date with developments in parts, tooling, and systems

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 4-6 years of combined experience as a retail parts counter salesman and/or warehouse associate
• Good technical knowledge of Caterpillar and allied heavy equipment (mechanical systems, diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems)
• Ability to read and comprehend computer-based schematics, specifications, service and parts literature
• Proficient verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Good problem-solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy
• Good computer skills using related information system applications (ex: SIS, DBS)
• Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations
• Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Minimum 4-6 years of combined work experience as a retail parts counter salesman and/or warehouse associate in a parts sales and service shop environment
