Diagnostic Specialist Mammography Technologist

About This Role

Perform and assist in routine mammographic examinations utilizing mammography equipment, ensuring accurate diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety and equipment functionality.

Responsibilities

• Perform and/or assist in performing all routine mammographic examinations in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures
• Set up, adjust, and operate mammography equipment, selecting proper technical factors to obtain accurate diagnostic images
• Properly position and immobilize patients
• Respond to patients’ needs as required
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and general working area, stocking clinical supplies
• Ensure proper operation of x-ray equipment
• Perform mammographic procedures including needle localization, seed localization, and stereotactic biopsy
• Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual mammography QC testing
• Troubleshoot routine equipment problems or seek technical assistance for equipment malfunctions
• Provide related support functions as required, including scheduling exams and answering telephones

Requirements

• Familiarity with most major models of radiologic testing equipment
• Good analytical skills for handling radiology patients and assessing correct action
• Good interpersonal manner during delivery of patient care
• Manual dexterity for use of x-ray and other equipment and instruments
• Adequate physical strength for positioning of patients and equipment

Qualifications

• Prior work experience of twelve months is desired in order to gain familiarity on-the-job with administration of radiologic testing.
