About This Role

This Development Assistant supports the Principal & Major Gift teams at Boston Children's Hospital Trust, helping to achieve fundraising goals for cutting-edge research, community outreach, patient programs, and medical education. The role provides a career development opportunity in fundraising within a highly impactful organization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain supervisor's meeting calendar and schedule internal/external appointments with donors, doctors, and staff
  • Organize and potentially attend donor visits
  • Coordinate travel for Trust staff, track donor visits, and report expenses
  • Assist in developing materials for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Maintain constituent information in the donor database
  • Provide general office support including answering phones and greeting guests
  • Prepare department invoices, payment requisitions, and reconcile monthly bills
  • Organize events including invitation lists, attendance, room space, refreshments, and staffing
  • Assist supervisor with special projects and report preparation
  • Develop proficiency in donor database to run basic reports and queries
  • Provide training to other administrative staff

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree
  • 4 years of fundraising related work experience
  • Ability to develop strong relationships
  • Good critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to proactively problem solve and recommend process improvements
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with data and databases

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Min of an Associate’s Degree and 4 years of fundraising related work experience is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred and would replace the experience requirement. One (1) additional year of development, marketing, events or customer service experience preferred.
