This Development Assistant supports the Principal & Major Gift teams at Boston Children's Hospital Trust, helping to achieve fundraising goals for cutting-edge research, community outreach, patient programs, and medical education. The role provides a career development opportunity in fundraising within a highly impactful organization.
Responsibilities
- Maintain supervisor's meeting calendar and schedule internal/external appointments with donors, doctors, and staff
- Organize and potentially attend donor visits
- Coordinate travel for Trust staff, track donor visits, and report expenses
- Assist in developing materials for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Maintain constituent information in the donor database
- Provide general office support including answering phones and greeting guests
- Prepare department invoices, payment requisitions, and reconcile monthly bills
- Organize events including invitation lists, attendance, room space, refreshments, and staffing
- Assist supervisor with special projects and report preparation
- Develop proficiency in donor database to run basic reports and queries
- Provide training to other administrative staff
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree
- 4 years of fundraising related work experience
- Ability to develop strong relationships
- Good critical thinking skills
- Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
- Ability to proactively problem solve and recommend process improvements
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work with data and databases
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Min of an Associate’s Degree and 4 years of fundraising related work experience is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred and would replace the experience requirement. One (1) additional year of development, marketing, events or customer service experience preferred.
