About This Role

This role involves accurately processing enrollments, waivers, and verifying eligibility through multi-payer systems to ensure reimbursement for services. It also includes timely and accurate entry and updating of patient information, as well as collecting various payments.

Responsibilities

  • Verify eligibility for enrollment and third-party insurance electronically via multi-payer systems
  • Enter and update patient information in the practice manager with high accuracy
  • Collaborate with the Billing department to maximize reimbursement of services
  • Maintain current knowledge of commercial insurances and accepted plans
  • Extract waiver files from the SHBP website daily during open enrollment periods
  • Update the practice management system with SHBP enrollment dates and create charts for family members
  • Collect and post copays, co-insurance, deductibles, fee-for-services, and online credit card payments
  • Provide coverage to multiple clinics including Flu and COVID vaccine/testing clinics
  • Maintain patient confidentiality utilizing HIPAA guidelines
  • Provide administrative support to the Supervisor of Patient Services

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of work experience in an office setting OR an associate’s degree or higher
  • Prior experience in medical setting and customer service
  • Prior experience with insurance administration, verification and benefit levels
  • Strong computer, typing and oral communication skills including telephone etiquette
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel or similar software
  • Ability to understand and communicate detailed and complex health plan information to clientele
  • Practice management and Electronic Health Records proficiency
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to deescalate frontline challenges
  • Ability to perform data entry functions and numerical computations

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of work experience in an office setting, or an associate's degree or higher can substitute for experience.
