About This Role

The Dental Hygienist at Charlotte Community Health Clinic (CCHC) conducts cleanings, thorough exams, and takes X-rays for new and existing patients. This role is crucial in educating patients on preventative care and assisting dentists in treatment decisions, serving a diverse patient population including those experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities

  • Review oral Health History and conduct initial mouth screening
  • Perform Oral Cancer screenings
  • Utilize State of the Art technology including Itero, Digital X-Rays, and Cone Beam Imaging in a paperless office environment
  • Expose, develop, and mount dental radiographs
  • Perform Perio Charting on new patients and yearly visits according to ADHA guidelines
  • Administer Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen to patients as applicable
  • Educate patients on the importance of preventative care and home care
  • Prepare treatment rooms including set-up, decontamination, sterilizing, sharpening instruments, and restocking supplies
  • Adhere to strict infection control guidelines set forth by CCHC/OHSA/ADA and Spice
  • Complete and sign patient's treatment plan and partner with CDHC for next steps and communication with patients/caregivers

Requirements

  • Dental Hygiene certification from accredited dental hygiene school
  • Current Dental Hygiene license issued by state where employed
  • Current BLS CPR certification
  • Certification for other duties as required by the State Practice Act
