This is a trainee/entry level position in the DCS Case Manager job series, responsible for professional case management work for children under State supervision, in State custody, or at risk of State custody, and their families.
Responsibilities
- Determine if abuse or neglect has occurred, assess risk, determine need for safety plans, and make recommendations regarding permanency.
- Monitor adoptive and foster families, recruit foster parents, conduct home visits, and coordinate/observe visitation for children.
- Maintain documentation for case files, prepare for, participate, and testify in court proceedings.
- Conduct interviews with alleged child victims, individuals reporting abuse/neglect, and family; gather required information and identify supports.
- Work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and after hours, scheduling appointments and safely transporting children.
- Communicate effectively and timely with children, families, providers, and co-workers to build trustful relationships and explain parental rights.
- Convene and identify members for Child and Family Team Meetings to develop action steps and goals.
- Work within communities by making referrals to service providers, collaborating with law enforcement, and training foster/adoptive parents.
Requirements
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
- Citizen of the United States
- Possess a good moral character
- No felony conviction
- Agreement to release criminal history records
- Supply a fingerprint sample for a criminal history records check
- Pass a pre-employment screening test for illegal drugs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Trainee/entry level class in the DCS Case Manager job series with a mandatory one-year training period.
