This is a trainee/entry level professional case management position responsible for learning to perform various duties for children under State supervision or at risk of State custody. The incumbent gains experience in determining abuse or neglect, preparing for court, and coordinating with families and service providers.
Responsibilities
- Determine if abuse or neglect has occurred, assess risk to child, and recommend permanency plans.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for case files and participate in court proceedings.
- Conduct interviews and gather information from alleged child victims, families, and collateral contacts.
- Work flexible hours including weekends and holidays, transport children, and assist with placements.
- Communicate effectively and engage with children and families to build trustful relationships.
- Convene and identify members for Child and Family Team Meetings to develop action steps and goals.
- Collaborate within communities by making referrals, working with law enforcement, and training foster/adoptive parents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application
- Citizen of the United States
- Good moral character
- No conviction for a felony
- Ability to pass a pre-employment screening test for illegal drug use
