This is a trainee/entry-level position responsible for professional case management work for children under State supervision or at risk of State custody. The role involves assessing abuse/neglect, coordinating services, and documenting case activities.
Responsibilities
- Determine if abuse or neglect has occurred, identify the abuser, and assess the level of risk or harm to the child
- Determine the need for a safety plan and make recommendations regarding permanency
- Monitor adoptive and foster families and recruit foster parents
- Conduct home visits and coordinate/observe visitations
- Maintain documentation for case files and other required documentation
- Prepare for, participate in, and testify in court proceedings
- Conduct interviews with alleged child victims, reporting individuals, child's family, and collateral contacts
- Gather required information such as school records, demographic information, medical exam/psychological information
- Identify supports for children and families, administer client drug screens, and conduct required assessments
- Conduct face-to-face visits with children, resource families, providers, kinship homes, and other relevant entities
- Work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and after hours, scheduling appointments and visitations
- Transport children safely to various appointments and assist children in preparing for placement
Requirements
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Possess a valid driver's license prior to and during employment
- Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation
- Complete a criminal history disclosure form
- Have no conviction for a felony
- Agree to release all records involving their criminal history
- Supply a fingerprint sample for a fingerprint based criminal history records check
- Submit to and pass a pre-employment screening test for use of illegal drugs
