This is an entry-level professional case management position responsible for learning to perform a variety of case management duties for children under State supervision, in State custody, or at risk of State custody, and their families within the Child and Family Management Division of the Department of Children's Services.
Responsibilities
- Determine if abuse or neglect has occurred, identify the abuser, assess risk to the child, and make recommendations regarding permanency.
- Monitor adoptive and foster families, recruit foster parents, conduct home visits, and coordinate/observe visitations.
- Maintain documentation for case files, prepare for, participate in, and testify in court proceedings.
- Conduct interviews with alleged child victims, individuals reporting abuse or neglect, and the child's family, while gathering necessary information and administering client drug screens.
- Work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and after hours, and safely transport children to various appointments.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, providers, and co-workers to build trustful relationships and explain parental rights.
- Convene and identify members for Child and Family Team Meetings to develop action steps and goals.
- Work within communities by making referrals to service providers, collaborating with law enforcement, and training foster/adoptive parents.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- US Citizen
- No felony convictions
- Satisfy criminal background check requirements
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening test
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Entry-level position in case management.
