Data Strategy & Sourcing Analyst

About This Role

This role involves defining the data strategy, sourcing, and onboarding new alternative data sets to support fundamental investment strategies for a technology-driven investment fund. The analyst will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Data Scientists, and Quants to identify data enrichment opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Drive data discovery with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Data Scientists to understand data needs and pain points
• Own the full lifecycle of data vendor contracts, including negotiation, execution, tracking renewals, and ensuring timely alignment across all stakeholders
• Leverage Python/SQL for data exploration, validation, and quality checks on prospective data sets to assess relevance and integrity before handoff

Requirements

• 2-7 years of experience in data acquisition, data sourcing, or data vendor management
• 2-5 years of experience in a financial services firm, ideally at a hedge fund or a firm that services hedge fund groups
• Commercial experience using Python or SQL
