About This Role

Setup and operate a cutter machine to customer specifications, ensuring quality products and performing process inspections. This role requires adherence to SOPs, effective communication, and troubleshooting mechanical difficulties.

Responsibilities

  • Locate flatstock and perform make readies
  • Set up and operate cutter to customer specifications
  • Adhere to SOPs and work instructions
  • Make trays, shippers, and box labels as needed
  • Perform weekly and monthly machine maintenance
  • Communicate effectively with pressmen, operators, manufacturers, management, and suppliers
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of machine control panel, air system, and back gauge movement
  • Program the computer for all required jobs to comply with job specifications
  • Perform knife changes and knife adjustments
  • Troubleshoot mechanical difficulties (power shut down, manual recycling of knife)
  • Contribute to quality investigations when necessary
  • Interpret job ticket information and customer specifications

Requirements

  • Ability to meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on a mechanical test or demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read and write complex instructions, correspondence and memos
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Capability of maintaining good attendance
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Ability to pass a basic reading test

Qualifications

  • Two to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
