About This Role

Coordinate and manage surgical instrumentation and sterile processing operations to ensure adequate inventory, optimal working condition, and availability for surgical procedures. This role acts as a critical liaison between various departments and leads process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure instrumentation and back-up inventory levels are adequate and available for surgical case procedures
  • Serve as a resource and provide support to surgical teams and service leads in the Operating Rooms
  • Act as liaison between CSPD, OR, Supply Chain, Finance, physicians, instrument vendors and other stakeholders
  • Monitor the OR Instrument budget in conjunction with the CSPD Manager
  • Request and approve instrument purchases through the Instrument Purchase Process flow
  • Track trends on missing and damaged instruments, communicate to leaders, and implement root cause analysis and process improvement projects
  • Ensure instrumentation is available and maintained in optimum working condition through daily walkthroughs and report reviews
  • Serve as the central point of contact for instrument repairs, orders, and set creations (new or revised)
  • Facilitate new set creation and ensure adherence to the new set process flow by all stakeholders
  • Conduct IFU reviews of new and existing instrument inventory with the CSPD educator
  • Communicate instrument inventory changes to CSPD and OR staff and coordinate SOP creation with CSPD educator
  • Manage and support internal and external customers in conjunction with the CSPD manager
  • Act as a resource for staff regarding reprocessing methods, parameters, and Joint Commission compliance

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Five years of professional experience in the medical field
  • Three years of experience in sterile processing
  • Certification through an accredited Sterile Processing Organization (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) within one year of hire
  • Experience in leading projects, teams, or programs

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent. Associates Degree or advanced certification preferred
  • Five years of professional experience in the medical field with at least three years of experience in sterile processing
