About This Role

Administer anesthesia to patients during surgical, obstetrical, and other pain-producing clinical procedures under physician supervision. This role involves collaboration with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Document patient procedures and incidents
• Assess patient before, during, and after administering anesthesia
• Ensure patient safety and administer anesthesia following accepted practice techniques
• Act as a liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers, patients, and families
• Participate in department quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style

Requirements

• Master’s degree from a school of nurse anesthesia accredited by the AANA
• License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
• Certification through the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information
• Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a school of nurse anesthesia accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
• No prior work experience required
