About This Role

Supervise and coordinate Child Protective Services (CPS) investigative cases, providing guidance and support to social workers to ensure the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, supervise, and participate in the delivery of social work programs and services
  • Review casework, hold conferences, and assist social workers in resolving difficult case situations
  • Make case decisions and judgments that impact the life and safety of children, the elderly, or disabled adults
  • Interpret and provide guidance on regulations and procedures for child welfare programs
  • Provide on-the-job training for staff and arrange formal training
  • Prepare, review, and maintain detailed and complex records, files, and reports
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate staff, including input on hiring decisions
  • Analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action under stressful conditions
  • Assign cases to staff and maintain workload balance
  • Implement changes in work procedures to meet program demands

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in social work and 2 years directly related experience OR Master’s Degree in a human services field and 3 years directly related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in social work and 3 years directly related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field and 4 years of directly related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years directly related experience
  • Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws, policies and procedures, program rules and quality assurance standards
  • Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training
  • Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers and other staff

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in social work and 2 years directly related experience OR Master’s Degree in a human services field and 3 years directly related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in social work and 3 years directly related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field and 4 years of directly related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years directly related experience.
  • 2+ years of directly related experience with a Master's in Social Work, or 3-5 years with a Bachelor's degree.

Nice to Have

  • Completion of NC Child Welfare Pre-Service Training
  • Completion of NC Child Welfare Collaborative Training
  • Master's in Social Work
  • Experience working in a (DSS) Child Welfare or Child Protective Services Dept in the State of NC
