About This Role

This role involves preventing and controlling corrosion on Navy ships by applying relevant regulations and conducting surveys to assess corrosion control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent and control corrosion in hull, topside, interior, and deck surface coating systems with Navy ships
  • Apply regulations of the Clean Air Act, NESHAP, EPA, OSHA, ASTM 718F, and Material Data Safety Sheet with regard to VOC compliance
  • Conduct surveys of underwater hull, topside, interior, and decks to determine the effectiveness of specific corrosion control systems
  • Review and provide technical guidance on specifications being repaired for corrosion control systems
  • Provide technical guidance concerning the techniques involved in the inspection of preparation and application of corrosion protection systems

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the prevention and control of corrosion and in hull, topside, interior, and deck surface coating systems with Navy ships
  • 5+ years of experience with the application of the regulations of the Clean Air Act, NESHAP, EPA, OSHA, ASTM 718F, and the Material Data Safety Sheet with regard to VOC compliance
  • Familiarity with corrosion control policy guidance and technical support at the Program level for NAVSEA organization (e.g., PEO SHIPS PMS 400D)
  • NACE Certified

Qualifications

  • Graduate of high school, trade school, industrial school, or correspondence school with credits in algebra, plane geometry, trigonometry, and physics
  • 5+ years of experience in prevention and control of corrosion, hull, topside, interior, and deck surface coating systems with Navy ships, and application of specific environmental regulations.
